Separator is a sheet of Polypropylene or Polyethylene which is placed in between the anode and cathode electrode to prevent direct contact of anode and cathode. Also small holes on the surface of separator allows electrolyte and lithium ions from penetrating and moving in between the electrodes activating the cell.
